Kalli Bones

some of us is turning nasty.

Hello!
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones
Hi...

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones
I have so much to be thankful for today. I have a nice place to live, we both have nice, reliable cars, my husband's job is stable and he is able to provide for the three of us.

Izze is smart and healthy and cute as hell. Even with her missing teeth, she's the apple of my eye. She insisted on having "Annie hair" today... she's the best little lady.

I'm healthy and happier than I've been in years.

We're having a great Thanksgiving. Tofurky is in the slow cooker and Celebration Roast is in the oven. I'm thankful I live somewhere, where I can make the choice to be vegan and alternative foods are easily attainable.

I'm thankful my husband can't keep surprises and he sprung one on me last night...

We are now proud owners of a new pretty shiny iMac. Boner... It's our "Christmas"

I can't wait to bust out our christmas cards on this bad boy.

:D Here's our excited picture care of photo booth. YAY!!!!!!

Excited!!!!

She's still cute with her missing teeth. She's becoming less shy about them and is showing them off to the people closest to her. That's a good step.

I hope you're all having a great Thanksgiving! :)

First of all, last week Izze fell and chipped her tooth on a little stool. We took her to have it checked out and it wasn't so bad. She had the chip filled in yesterday and was a CHAMP!! She sat in the chair, but the mask on and opened up her mouth. SO GOOD!!! I was so proud of her. Her dentist said she's old enough now to get a retainer where her tooth is missing... BUT the tooth she needs to hold in place hasn't grown in yet. She's always been about 6-9 months behind average getting her teeth. He said to check Izze's emotional cues, if she's embarrassed about the missing tooth or she's talking about it often, then we'll get a retainer. I'm not sure she'll care, but I know she'llbe missing it for a while probably until she is 7 or 8. So I'll leave it up to her.

I'm so very, super duper, holy freakin' excited for this week and weekend. I love Thanksgiving. I think now that I'm older and I'm making many of the dishes and they're vegan... I love and appreciate the holiday even more.

The black Friday sales are a big tradition in our family too. We're crazy, but not so crazy that we pitch a tent outside. I only have a few big things on my list and I think they'll be easy to get. But I go out with my mom and sister and we take turns waiting in line and getting lippy with people who dare try to get in our way.

Pretty stoked. I'm pretty sure I know that Jeremy has something up his sleeve to the tune of a new computer... You know a sexy one. I know my mom fixed her older sewing machine and got me sewing lessons from a lady in my neighborhood, that's a fantastic gift!!! :)

What are your plans, guys? Anyone doing Black Friday?!

Izze's trying out a preschool today. I pick her up in about 30 minutes. I'm not sure how I feel about it... waiting to see how she digs it before enrolling for sure... if I don't enroll her, should I offer to pay for today?

Day 2, Day 3, Day 4

Day 2. We woke up at like 10:00 am and felt totally ready for the day. We so needed the extra rest. By the time we got ready and out of hour hotel it was nearly noon and we had to eat lunch.

I didn't take many pictures this day because I made a big mistake.

I got the three of us tickets to Jimmy Fallon and I thought they were for Friday, but they were for Thursday... wa wa wa.

I'm going to do this little by little.

But first.

It was 29 freakin' degrees last night!! 29!!!!!!!!!!

This was the view from my living room:

I'm going to start with Izze's birthday/Halloween.

I'm only 2 weeks behind )

Then a few days later I was off to New York City.

We left around 11:50 Wednesday night and arrived in New York about 6:15 am on Thursday. We checked our hotel, they didn't have a room, so we checked our bags and headed out. We ate some horrible breakfast then headed straight to Chinatown to do some shopping on Canal street. Of course we didn't consider that it was only 8:30 and the shops weren't open. So we decided to walk to Battery Park.

On the way )

Hello.
Glowy Punk
[info]pregnantbones
I'm back.

But my life is still going at NYC pace (which is great). I have pictures, stories and heartfelt times to share hopefully tomorrow. A space opened up at a preschool for Izze where our neighbors go and we're going to try and get her in tomorrow.

Times were good.

I'm probably going to be obsessed with Wicked. I still get teary eyed thinking about it. Even though Lion King blew my freakin' mind, the story of Wicked was so cute and seeing it with my mom and sister... and the fact my sister and I really needed to reconnect... become closer. I'm a big cry baby!

I just bought custom rings and necklaces hand stamped with "defy gravity" for the three of us for Christmas. They'll love them!

MORE LATER!!!!!!!!!!!

Quick note
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones

I'm a list maker, naturally I write lists for packing. Since Iz was born, the listing for packing has been rather intense. Making sure I have everything not just for myself, but her too. Stress...

But I packed for myself last night and it took twenty minutes... Including ironing and the filling of my three ounce containers!

I kept thinking... Could I really be done?! I've got to be forgetting something. But I have my list, everything is checked off. I'm a little anxious, flying sometimes makes me that way, also... I am just an anxious person. So... Packed. I'm ready to go. Tonight. Word!

AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had a minute to post about my baby girl turning 3...

I haven't had a minute to post about Halloween this year... (SUPER AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!)

I haven't had a minute to do much of anything but run around like a crazy person.

But I'm leaving to New York tomorrow night and I am INCREDIBLY GIDDY!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been there a billion times and each time is just as memorable as the last. But this time, I'm staying in Times Square. I'm going with just my mom and sister. The hotel is so awesome looking. The weather is supposed to be decent for the time of year. I'm overdue for a mom break.

Camera battery is charging. I'm almost packed. WE.ARE.SET.

I'm STOKED!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!!!!!!!

So I'll see you on Monday. :)

Curious...

Hey. I have a brand new Dancey Dancey Brobee.

He's still in his box and he hasn't even had the tab pulled out to activate the demo mode. Does that makes sense?

I tried selling it on Craigslist, but haven't had any bite, except for a scam of course.

I know there are a lot of Gabba friends on my FL, so I thought I'd put it out there.

Any one interested? Christmas? I think I bought one for Izze for either her birthday or Christmas last year, but ended up with two.

He's super awesome. Izze still plays with her Brobee.

Any takers?

Punkin' Face.

Izze's obsessed with painting her face. I'm not capable of making things with my hands... but I try and for now, she thinks that is awesome! I was lucky, as a kid my dad always did the best face painting and doodling and pumpkin carving and scarecrow making. When Izze gets to the age where she cares we're doomed! HA!

ahem...

I have a real post, with cute pictures coming very soon.

But I'm in a jam!

I need to enlist the help of my friends. I need Izze's birthday party invites. I don't have time to make them. :(

Does anyone here want to make them for me... or CAN anyone?

I'll pay you!!!!

All that matters is that it's a "Witchy" or "Halloween" theme.

Wee Witches Weekend.
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones
My sister and I took our kids to Gardner Historic Village for their Wee Witches Weekend. It was way more fun than I thought it would be. There were several activities for kids to do ranging from a bean bag toss, to face painting and our favorite The Ride to a Witch. Izze LOOOOOVED that. She met 1-2-3!! Witches. She got their autographs and Izze is so proud of that glossy! haha!

Tip of the hat.

This weekend... or actually, possibly tomorrow, we're taking Izze to Gardner Historic Village here in Salt Lake. I haven't been during this season, but I guess they're kind of known for having really cool witches on display and fun witchy events. Tomorrow through the weekend they have activities for little ones and one of them is a hayride to meet a witch in her train car house. They have witchy makeovers too. Izze's pretty excited. Jeremy is not too thrilled, he thinks Gardner Historic Village is filled with stuff to make a Mormon housewife cream her pants. But we're not even going for that, so really he should suck it up for his witchy poo daughter.

I'll post the pictures tomorrow, hopefully it's not too rainy. Some in Utah are saying Mr. Weather might forget to give us fall and we'll skip right to winter, I'm less than pleased with this. It was like 84 or something yesterday and today the high is 47. It usually snows a little bit, just once before Halloween, sometimes there is snow on Halloween. I'm just hoping this year is a regular year like the last two years.

This got rambly, I'm checking out before it gets too much more.

By the way....... vote for Izze k?

Izze no longer wants a Fancy Nancy birthday party. She still loves her and still wants the phone and the dog, but she does not want a Fancy Nancy party.

I'm glad she made up her mind today, because we were going to start ordering/buying things for her party this weekend.

She is lucky enough to MEET. A. WITCH. can you believe it? Izze gets to take a hayride to meet her and listen to her tell stories. She's dying inside with GLEE!!! So now she wants a witch party.

And I'm 100% cool with this. We'll just have a small Halloween party and call it a "witch party" I feel like at 4 years old there's a chance she'll get mad about the Halloween birthday thing, if not 4 years, than 5 or 6. It's coming. So this is probably the last year she'll want to have a Halloween party and dammit we spent $40 on that mini pumpkin bundt pan and we're going to use it as much as we can!!! We'll probably play some Halloween games and have pumpkin cake and ice cream. I'm really trying to force myself not to go overboard. I really need to. She's only 3, it's not a big deal, she doesn't need flying monkeys and a unicorn. That's for 5 year olds. Duh!

This also means I don't have to buy or make a birthday tutu and it still keeps with the tutu each birthday tradition that Jeremy wants to keep. Her costume has a tutu and she'll wear that.

This also means we don't have to buy any decorations because we have them from her first birthday.

Money saved is wonderful. Especially when I have ZERO control when it comes to buying things for Izze. I'm soooo glad we don't have credit cards, I could only imagine the lack of discipline I'd have then. Do you have any idea how tempting it is to apply for those credit cards at The Gap and Target, even if I'll only save $3.00. SO TEMPTING!

So there we have it: a witch party. I think my sisters will be happy that their kids will get more use out of their costumes this year.

Whew. I'm really glad Izze still wants the Fancy Nancy stuff for her birthday, because I already wrapped it and stashed it. Whew! Whew! Whew!

Movie Time.
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones
When we refer students we get gift cards to the movie theater. I've had a couple just sitting around and Jeremy and I aren't feeling super hot... but Izze is wired. You know how that is? We're a little tight right now on cash too. This once a month pay period is really difficult to get used to. Jeremy gets paid on Friday and that day can't come soon enough, I feel like we have no room to bend and every ounce of soymilk will be used sparingly!

So we decided since we didn't have the energy to entertain Izze we'd take her to see a movie with one of my giftcards (which ended up being 1.5 cards after snackage...)

We saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I was actually worried about the "non-vegan" aspects of it. But I guess technically everything would have to have been vegan... because it's all just particles... I might be justifying but it was still really cute and Izze assumed everything was a vegan version.

Izze laughed hysterically throughout the whole thing. But the funniest part was that every time the main character's dad was on screen Izze would laugh herself to tears!

Picture 1

She'd say, "He not have eyes! Oh!! Where he eyes?!?" And sometimes he'd lift his eyebrow up and you'd see his little eyes and Izze would laugh so hard, "THERE THEY ARE!!!!!!!! HE DO HAVE EYES!!!!!!!!"

Maybe she related the dad to her own... because of the brow?! No?

The movie was pretty cute though, Izze's proving to be a big movie fan like me and Jeremy. And we have to start paying for her in a few weeks... weeks? Wow...

Not sure what prompted me to look at old pictures of Izze... maybe this huge growth spurt she's going through. It kills me. She's not a baby... she's not really even a toddler anymore. She's a total kid. Might I brag:

-She runs with her chest puffed out, like Dash on The Incredibles.
-She makes up words to songs, in the tune of familiar songs. Like the theme to Olivia, she'll sing, "My Favorite show... is coming on! My favorite show! IS COMING ON!"
-She's 100% a girly girl all of a sudden. She carries around this tube of lip gloss and applies it every half second.
-She looooved Ponyo and talks about Ponyo all the time.
-She pretends to be different animals and I have to play along.
-She loves noodles, they're her favorite food. She'll eat them in any form. She loves them most with tofu.
-She is super compassionate and is always willing to lend a hand.
-Her memory kills me. She started rambling about Titus yesterday. "He was our black pug. Where did he go?"
-She loves paper dolls. I printed some Olivia paper dolls off Nick Jr. and some Fancy Nancy ones off Haper Collins onto magnet paper and she looooves them. They're so much easier for her to play with too.
-She spells her name I-ZZ-E. Thinking ZZ is one letter. Until today, she realized there were two of them on her paper. She can write it now. She's almost got all the letters down in Isadora. The S, D and R are confusing to her.
- She loves gymnastics. She loves dance. She wants to take drum lessons. I think we'll wait till she's 5.
- She gets pretty upset she can't read yet. I don't get it.
- She always tells people she has lots of brothers and sisters (she means cousins and this is true).
- She has THREE best friends. Bresies and Aurora (the little twins next door). And Olivia (in her gymnastics class).
- She won't stop talking about her Fancy Nancy party. She wants "a Fancy Dancy phone and a Frenchy dog"
- She hates for me to do her hair, but loves to be fancy so she'll deal with it.
- She loves dinosaurs, pandas and pigs this week.
- She wants her ears pierced...

Heads up.
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones
I had to get rid of some things in Izze's closet.

Some Yo Gabba Gabba stuff and some other really cute fall/winter things.

http://community.livejournal.com/baby_stuff4sale/396084.html

Four books.
Mozzer and a Turkey
[info]pregnantbones
It's no lie. We love books. I have four book recommendations. Many of the parents on my friends list love Halloween... right?!? All through the year even...

We haven't reviewed these on Izze's blog yet because we were waiting till it was closer to Halloween.

But we really love this guy Jimmy Pickering. He has tons of witchy, ghostly, ghoulish type books that aren't necessarily Halloween only.

Our favorite two, I just bought them both for Izze for her birthday are
Skelly the Skeleton Girl. About a little skeleton girl who finds a bone and wants to know who it belongs to.
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Skelly-the-Skeleton-Girl/Jimmy-Pickering/e/9781416911920/?itm=1&usri=1
And the sequel.
Skelly & Femur
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Skelly-and-Femur/Jimmy-Pickering/e/9781416971436/?itm=2&usri=1

Then I love the illustrations in this book, but the story is a little strange. Izze, however, loves the story. The illustrations kind of remind me of [info]serialkiller's.

Pumpkin Head by Eric Rohmann
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Pumpkinhead/Eric-Rohmann/e/9780375824166/?itm=3&usri=1

And this is for my vegan friends. I'm seriously going to buy this book 10 times over. I'm going to donate it to Izze's teachers every grade! It's that sweet and that right. It's hard to find a book about veganism that's appropriate for kids, we have two that aren't so great. But this one is right on the money. I just ordered it from Barnes and Noble for Izze's birthday. It's just a little peek at factory farms and why we don't eat each type of animal and how we can take care of the earth. The illustrations aren't horrific, but they're sad enough to get the point across. I think it helps explain veganism in a non-monster sort of light, you know?

That's Why We Don't Eat Animals by Ruby Roth
http://books.barnesandnoble.com/search/results.aspx?WRD=that%27s+why+we+don%27t+eat+animals+a+book+about&box=that%27s%20why&pos=0
For the record... I love book recommendations too.
